East Troy Wetland Mitigation Bank Site, East Troy, WI
|OTIE designed a 260-acre wetland mitigation bank/consolidation site as compensation for wetland losses caused by construction of the STH 83 Corridor and related to future transportation projects within the region. We installed a series of shallow groundwater monitoring wells throughout the site to determine existing and proposed hydrology. We used data collected during the hydrologic study to design drainage feature modifications and a proposed seeding and planting plan throughout the site.
The final plan included significant grading to bury soils contaminated with invasive seed, culvert removals, clearing and grubbing, drain tile removal, ditch filling, seeding, herbaceous plantings, and shrub installation along existing waterways to stabilize disturbed soils. OTIE also produced a five-year management plan that outlined strategies to control several species of concern (buckthorn, reed canary grass, and ragweed).
OTIE provided construction management for the construction portion of this project which included record keeping, construction inspections of restoration items, preparing pay estimates, erosion control inspections, and agency coordination throughout the duration of the work.
