RI/FS, Former Camp Barkeley, Buffalo Gap, TXOTIE is performing a CERCLA RI/FS action at the Former Camp Barkeley, located in Buffalo Gap, TX.  The primary components of this project include:

  • Work Plans to include Explosives Safety Submission, Accident Prevention Plan
  • Surface clearance of the Light Anti-Tank Weapon (LAW) Practice Range
  • MEC hazard assessment
  • Munitions response site prioritization protocol
  • CERCLA RI/FS to include full regulatory involvement
  • Certification and Disposal of MEC

OTIE is providing support in meeting the regulatory compliance requirements of conducting a CERCLA RI/FS action at the Former Camp Barkeley. In addition, this site has been designated as Military Munitions Response site. As a result, OTIE is conducting a hazard assessment and is prioritizing each of the munitions sites. The project site consists of an 80-acre section of the property that was used in the past for various munitions ranges.  The former Small Arms Range at Camp Barkeley was used for weapons training (M1 Rifle Range) approximately during the World War II years, then again in the 1970s and 1980s when M16, Pistol, and Light Anti-tank Weapons ranges were built inside the foot of the M1 Range. Operation of the range ceased in the late 1980s to early 1990s.
