The Public Works Department (PWD) Ventura County selected OTIE as the recipient of the Safety Through Awards and Recognition (STAR) Safety Award for the Naval Operations Support Center (NOSC) Consolidation project at Port Hueneme, Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC), CA. OTIE received the STAR Safety Award because of the outstanding safety performance during the renovation of three buildings. This award is given to companies that have demonstrated a corporate proactive safety posture throughout the contract.
This $1.1M project consisted of consolidating Buildings PH513, PH1443, and PH1491 at NBVC Port Hueneme. OTIE managed the HVAC installation, electrical, roofing, flooring, plumbing, drywall, carpentry, painting, mechanical, fire protection, and other general contracting work in the three buildings. Specific tasks for each building included the following:
- PH513: Provided facility repair and alterations to the restrooms, break room, janitor’s closet, and DLA auction room. This included renovations to the existing fire sprinkler system, existing HVAC, carpeting, ceiling and tile, existing three roll up fire doors, cracks in the building and dock, frame and drywall for new DLA office, existing panel with new computer drops, and overhead projection system.
- PH1443: Provided facility repairs and alterations to a classroom and two offices that included carpentry, drywall, fire protection, modifications to existing HVAC system, electrical, projection system, sound insulation, and paint.
- PH1491: Provided facility alterations and repairs to the new Medical Lab that included carpentry, electrical, plumbing, restroom repair, cabinet and countertop replacement, flooring installation, and repainting parking lot lines.
